Strategic Planning

I design and manage planning processes to identify key strategic issues and opportunities and mobilize leadership teams around a plan of action. For example, I have:

Managed all aspects of strategic planning for a leading information services company.

Facilitated numerous strategic planning committees through a course of investigation, decision-making, and implementation planning.

Conducted comprehensive audits of two national non-profit organizations (at the behest of their leadership and a major foundation donor) to identify future prospects, current strengths and weaknesses, and investment needs.

Organizational Planning

I conduct strategic organizational reviews and advise senior leadership on decisions to restructure management team roles and responsibilities and realign their organizational structures and workforce. Here are some examples of my work:

Conducted an organizational assessment for a digital information services company and helped leadership update the organization to increase customer focus, enable international expansion, innovate and support dynamic products, and manage increasing scale.

Managed organizational redesign and change management efforts for a national publisher, including a large-scale program of digital transformation and cost reduction.

Consulted with a leading media company, co-chairing the senior executive task force charged with integrating the business strategies of two merging companies. I also completed an organizational plan for the merger of two divisions acquired by a global professional services firm.

Leadership Development

I support leaders in their efforts to build the bench strength of their leadership team and plan for the future. Below are some examples of my work in this area:

Leadership development: Designed and launched leadership development programs at two premier financial services firms.

Succession planning: Advised a national professional services firm on the development of a CEO succession planning process; conducted leadership assessment, facilitated key executive succession planning, and advised on reorganization of a national engineering firm’s management and board.

Team building: Worked with the senior executive team of a major industrial public company on improving cohesion, communication, and global business processes, and to prepare for leadership of a spin-off business.

Diversity: Developed programs to improve gender diversity in the senior ranks of two national engineering firms.
